The Martini Bar and Lounge
The Martini is chic and intimate, perfect for that pre or post dinner drink. You will find a vast choice of mature French cognacs, aged Scottish malts, cane spirits, grappa and rums alongside ports, liqueurs & cocktails. The Wine List is a talking point offering some of South Africa’s finest wines. During the day it is a relaxed space to meet for high tea or single estate coffees. When night falls, the space is transformed into a sophisticated place to be seen, where guests can sample our signature drink, the Martini.
The Conservatory
The Conservatory is the main restaurant at The Cellars-Hohenort and is located in the Cellars Building. This stylish Restaurant, which is situated adjacent to the historic cellar, and carefully built around a giant 300-year-old oak, offers unparalleled garden vistas, whether you opt for the airy indoors or the sun-drenched terrace. Head Chef, Ryan Josten, is creating some hotel classics alongside some new trendy dishes focused around our bountiful gardens and local produce. The Cape Malay Experience
Martha Williams is the chef of this restaurant that shows off her talents and “The Cape Malay Experience.” The concept is that people can book a Cape Malay evening which will be hosted, explained and served by Martha and her team. The Malay restaurant and demonstration kitchen is now in a cosy private dining area. This local cuisine restaurant, which is open Tuesdays to Saturdays, is a unique dining experience in authentic Cape Malay food, where an exciting choice of traditional taste treats await you! Spicy, rustic colours create a pleasant Eastern ambience. Cape Malay cooking is unique to the Western Cape.
The Greenhouse
The Greenhouse expertly showcases Cape Town’s first Grand Chef, Peter Tempelhoff, and his acclaimed conceptual approach to cuisine. Here the tasting menus are inspired by the imagination, a place where anything is possible. The cuisine deconstructs and reinvents past classics, resulting in dishes that surprise and leave a lasting impression. With emphasis placed on local produce and flavours, the tasting menu, paired with superb wines from the surrounding wine regions, will impress even the most seasoned diners. Limited seating, for just 45 people, ensures that each guest experiences the most intimate fine-dining affair. ACTIVITIES
Ensure that you’re well prepared for your upcoming games at some of South Africa’s finest golf courses, Royal Cape or Westlake, conveniently located on The Cellars-Hohenort’s doorstep, by practicing your short game on the Gary Player designed chipping and putting green. The asphalt tennis court is located in a picturesque area of our garden.
Swimming Pools
There are 2 swimming pools on the property. The Hohenort pool is heated and surrounded by bougainvillea and the beautiful vineyard. The 2nd pool, which is situated in an enclosed garden on The Cellars side of the property, is solar heated.
Garden
The gardens at The Cellars-Hohenort are acknowledged as one of the finest hotel gardens internationally and have been voted by Garden Design, a top American magazine, as one of the top 30 hotel gardens in the world. Cellars is proud to have been awarded the Relais & Chateaux Garden Trophy for 2010. Guests can join Jean Almon every Tuesday morning at 10h30 for a tour through one of the most beautiful gardens in Cape Town.
