THREE TREES LODGE AT SPIOENKOP

KWA ZULU NATAL

This Country Lodge, built during the Anglo-Boer War, was created by the late David Rattray (a world-renowned Anglo-Zulu War historian) whose vision for Three Tree Hill Lodge  was to bring to vivid life the struggle between the British Empire and the tiny Boer Republics.

“Built for the love of history & nurtured for the love of nature…”

Proprietors Simon and Cheryl Blackburn continue with this vision. They are both experienced safari & mountain guides, African-born, with the bush in their blood. They have spent their time together exploring remote parts of Africa & connecting with local communities. Their four children, Kei, Neo, Jos & Cas have joined them on many of these adventures. The lodge is located in Kwa Zulu-Natal, between Johannesburg and Durban. It is not far from the Drakensberg Mountains and close to many of the famous battlefield sites of the Anglo-Boer War.

The accommodation:  includes 5 twin bedrooms, 1 king size bedroom, and a family suite, all equipped with roof fans, heaters, down duvets and the finest percale linen. The owner’s experence gained at world-class establishments shows in this family-run enterprise whose decoration, services and understanding of nature are wonderful to experience.
