The Peech is a new luxury Boutique hotel, in Johannesburg’s northern suburbs, close to Rosebank. It is a peaceful oasis behind residential gates. Originally a private residence, built for a member of the ‘Dambusters’ who settled in South Africa in the 1950’s. When James purchased the property in 2003, it had been in the same family’s family’s hands for more than 40 years. The Peeches worked wonders in a short time, and opened an initial 6 rooms in November 2004. Next followed the delightful bistro, which truly makes this a home from home.

The Peech now has sixteen bedrooms and suites located in the main house and in the garden annexes.

The Garden Rooms overlook lush landscaped gardens. They are designed with separate business & relaxation areas and have a private patio or balcony facing onto the gardens. Indigenous African furnishings, crisp white sheets and nguni ( African cows) skins give the rooms a natural feel. Details like iPod docking stations, flat screen TV, high-speed WiFi and low energy air-conditioning complete the rooms. The bathrooms have ‘Raindance’ showers and separate baths, Hans Grohe fittings and products from Gilchrist & Soames.

House rooms were originally bedrooms in the old residence of the property. These rooms have recently been renovated and are a chic offering. Designed to be spacious and fully modernised they have living and working spaces with details such as iPod docking stations, high-speed WiFi and low energy air-conditioning. They can be adjoined across a landing for families or private groups. The bathrooms have ‘Raindance’ showers separate baths, Hans Grohe fittings and bath products from Gilchrist & Soames.

Garden Suites are the largest rooms at over 60m2. They feature over-size bathrooms and an open-plan bedroom & living space. Designed to allow simultaneous sharing of work and relaxation spaces, the rooms have an espresso machine, iPod docking station, flat screen TV, high-speed WiFi and low energy air-conditioning. A hanging pod chair gives views over their private patio or garden.

The Peech is committed to both environmentally-friendly and ethical practices. It is Fair-Trade in Tourism Certified and has a sustainability policy that is centered on recycling, energy conservation and green design.
