Owned and operated by Hugh and Leigh-Ann Morrison whose family have had the land for three generations, guests here receive a refined and personal service.
Lake St Lucia is Africa’s largest natural estuary with an expanse of 300 square km of water. It
forms the heart of the 332 000 ha iSimangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage Site and is right
on Makakatana Bay’s doorstep. Makakatana’s private boat takes guests for trips on the pristine St Lucia Narrows.
There are over 340 species of birds, elephant, leopard, rhino, giraffe, buffalo, hippo, crocodile and numerous antelope. On the coast, the Indian Ocean washes up on miles of golden uninhabited beaches and dune forests waiting to be explored.
There is a great choice of full day Safaris, including a Game drive into Wetlands on arrival, Estuary/Lake boat trips, Beach safaris, Hluhluwe/Wetlands game drives (Hluhluwe is the oldest game reserve in Africa, where Zulu kings such as Dingiswayo and Shaka hunted, and was established in 1895; the Park became world renowned for its white rhino conservation in the 1950’s and 1960’s), and a Wetlands walk/drive on departure morning. Full Board Accommodation range from R 2600 to R 3250 per person per night, depending on suite and season. Full board accommodation includes room, meals (excluding drinks) and activities.
